Uli is a browser add-on designed to tackle online gender and sexual abuse on Twitter in three Indian languages: Hindi, Tamil, and Indian English. It was developed by The Centre for Internet and Society and Tattle Civic Tech, with support from Omidyar Network. The tool's design was guided by feedback from over 50 active users who identify as women or sexual minorities. The training data was put together by a team of 18 expert annotators, including journalists, activists, and community leaders who frequently come across such abusive content on social media.
